Customer Reviews: Practical Lightweight Bung Wrench August 21, 2009 RGL I bought this over 6 months ago and I am buying three more as I left the last one behind on a job site. It is so lightweight that I never noticed it in my tool bucket. It worked great about 98 percent of the times I've used it. I use it to open bung type caps on 2" NPT valve openings. The compact design fits into contricted areas well. Occasionally a plug is so tight or frozen and the access so restricted that it won't work and will slip out when lager force is applied. Wish I could find something on a 1/2" drive socket for these rare instances. It has never damaged itself. The slot on the tail end is for removing the vent cap on some barrels. When draing waste liquid back into a barrel via a funnel remove the vent plug so you don't get liquid burped back onto yourself.
Big Pocking Wrench for Drums! July 10, 2009 eternalgreenknight (Huntsville, Al) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
For some reason or another, another reviewer gave what might be considered a bit too much info about the shape of their "bung-hole." As an amateur drummer, I'm not sure what that has to do with drumming, but this Advanced Tool Design Model ATD-5271 Non Sparking Aluminum Drum Wrench definitely doesn't give off sparks when I bang my aluminum drum with it. I suppose if you needed to unplug your "bung hole," this would certainly get the job done. Good luck with that.
I actually wish I could find a sparking model, but I imagine I'd have to use a flint or steel drum. A flint drum doesn't seem like it would make good noise, and I'm not into making calypso music, so I guess I'll skip the steel drum, and stick with aluminum. I still imagine that having sparks fly from the drum would be a neat trick to accomplish in the middle of a solo though... oh well.
This makes for some solid "bangs," as it has a much broader head than the normal wrenches I'd normally consider for use on my drum. In fact, the 4 nibs at the end make it seem like I'm hitting the drum 4 times with one strike. The circle cut-out in the middle makes it all the easier to swing- kinda like those paddles with holes in them.
Good tool for a good price January 15, 2009 Thomas L. Decker (Oregon) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a good tool for a standard drum bung cap removal device. This is the second time I have purchased several of these for chemical usage. Good material at a decent price. Recommended.
Wow, this thing is awesome! June 22, 2008 SJ (Texas) Well, what can I say? How can you really review a drum wrench? The wrench is aluminum so it is very lightweight. Also it won't spark if you clang it against something, so you won't blow yourself up accidentally.
My bung hole is slightly oblong, so I had trouble getting my plug in place tightly by hand, or by using anything I had laying around in my garage. The wrench allows me to plug the bung hole securely to prevent leakage.
Overall, it is a really perfect drum wrench.
